The Way Of A Bass Fisherman With a Fly Rod And The Way Of A Bass With A Fly

By Donald Berthiaume —–SIDEBAR—————————————— Older fly fishing classics contain a wealth of knowledge for the beginner fly fisher as well as the experienced angler. The following is an excerpt from Practical Fly Fishing, by Larry St. John (1920) —–END SIDEBAR———————————- WADING A STREAM Ideal Fishing The ideal way to fish a bass stream, if its depth and bottom will permit, is to wade. Some one has said that Art is the beautiful way of doing things. Certainly then, wading the stream is the artist’s way of fishing for Micropterus. It has all the charm of trout fishing and all of its thrills and seldom is so lonesome since many of our bass streams are in settled districts. One often fishes a stream and is never out of hearing of the cowbells and the barking of friendly farm dogs but is in the wilderness nevertheless. When the angler wades he becomes a part of the stream and its life and the more he fishes a fine stretch of water the friendlier it becomes. Bass and Flies One reason I believe bass fly fishermen are not as generally successful as their trout fishing brethren is because the bass fisher, as a class, has not put as much study into his waters and his methods. This is not to be wondered at when you consider that fly fishing for bass is, compared with trouting, in its first tooth stage. In other words, if some anglers loudly proclaim that the east wind bloweth when they are bassing with flies it is due, not to the bass but to the angler. True one seldom gets the big, old, granddaddy bass of ‘em all on a fly, neither do the bigger trout come to the net by the same route, but the average of the stream or lake can be caught on flies and are on certain waters. Is it entirely because of certain local peculiarities of fish, water or conditions that fly fishing for bass is practiced so successfully on such widely separated waters as, to mention a few: the upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers in the Middle West; the Susquehanna, Potomac and Delaware in the East; the Current and St. Francis in the Ozarks; the Belgrade Lakes in Maine? I think not. Bass fly fishing has long been practiced and studied in these places, hence the success. Aside from its beauty and charm wading a stream makes for success. In the first place a stream that is of wadable depth is ideal for fly fishing and the angler, moving slowly and quietly, with only a portion of his body above water is, as old Dennys put it, less likely to “offend the fearful Fish’s eye.” Seasons, Weather, Etc. As a general rule the trout fisher can go a-fishing earlier with his flies than the angler who fishes for bass in northern North America. A great many of our good bass streams are in civilized territory and the Spring rains, plus the drainage of farm lands, usually roils the water. If one must have bass then most success will be had if he will dangle an angle, baited with worm, helgramite or craw, in the deep holes. As the season advances fly fishing improves but June usually finds the bass busy with family affairs and they should not be bothered even if the law permits. July is usually a good month on all streams and on the larger ones this month and August often produce best of all – and just when the lakes are yielding least. Very low water, however, often drives the fish into the holes on small streams during the ” dog days.” September, the month Eastern and Midwest trout fishermen close up shop, is usually excellent except the week of the equinoctial storm. October – brown October – also yields well, and the seasons we have “a late Fall” fishing continues good even well into November. Local conditions also must be considered. The ideal fly fishing day is a dark, overcast one, just before a rain, or better still, when it merely suggests or threatens to rain and doesn’t with enough breeze to ruffle the surface of the water. Next best is what the average person would call a “nice day.”- when the sun shines, the sky is blue and friendly and streamside posies and tree tops nod to fitful breeze lets that put a slight ripple on the stream. The best time of the day is undoubtedly the early morning hours, from dawn until eight or nine o’clock and from four in the afternoon until sundown or even until after dark. During cloudy days the noon hours often produce well. However, most of us fish the day through and perhaps it doesn’t add much to the heft of our creels but it adds lightness to our hearts and uplift to our spirits and there is always the anticipation of the luck the evening fishing is going to bring us – unless, perchance, it is the last day and we must quit untimely to catch the 5:15 for home. Then we are out of luck as the fish invariably begin to rise well as the quitting hour approaches -’twas ever thus as the poets say! But never mind: other days are coming and for that matter if the fish become too challenging one can always “miss” a train and send a telegram of explanation later. Such things have happened! In fact, I know bald-headed men who have, choosing love before duty, thus played truant from home and business under these circumstances. Thunder and lightning storms are unpropitious for good fishing but a gentle shower often turns the tide in our favor and sets the fish to rising. The direction of the wind has little to do with the success of a day on a stream as the wind comes from all directions if the river is at all winding. The proverbial east wind may have local influences, in England or on our east coast, but otherwise is not objectionable and the phases of the moon have little to do with fishermen’s luck or the whimsical mood of Micropterus, except that the bass may do their feeding on moonlight nights and be indifferent during the day. In this case the angler, well prepared for mosquitoes and with heavy tackle, can do his fishing after sundown. Alone Or Widowed, The Trip Is More Important Than The Destination

By Patricia Hubbard There is an expression that states: It is not the destination that is important, it is the trip. Imagine wanting to go to France to see the famous Louvre, but you are transported instantaneously. You would see the Louvre and be so happy to share with your friends your vision of the exquisite art, but miss all the interesting and beautiful parts of the trip in between. What a waste! Wouldnt you like to see all the sites around France, meet the people, and taste the scrumptious foods, also? And maybe visit other famous places in between? Creating new memories by gratitude Trying to change and move on in your life after the loss of a love is similar to that journey experience. Take time to feel the pain, remember the memories good and bad, and then push them to edge of your table of life. Begin to create new memories. Try to find ways to make the trip enjoyable. Be thankful! But, how does one do that? Recognizing your Table of Life Everyone has a table of life. Whatever is occupying your attention right now is in the middle of your table. Once you deal with the problem, situation or feeling, you can push it further away from you; leave it on the table and focus on another issue. It will still be there on your table, but maybe on the far edge. How do you move the bad feelings to the edge of the table? By spreading the table of life with different fruits of gratitude. Gratitude is paying attention and being joyful for the little thingsand the big things; when you are alone, or because you are alone. Looking for the upside of your pain may surprise you, when you discover that you can get past it. You are in control! Only you can make changes in your life and you are not helpless. Replacing those negative feelings can be accomplished by replacing them with thoughts of gratitude. How does one find gratitude in the midst of anger, loneliness and fear? In little, tiny steps: perhaps making a list of the good things in ones life would help. You will begin to crowd the resentment to the edge of the table. My list would go something like this: I am grateful for my children, grandchildren, brothers and sister and other family members. My parents, though dead, who left a legacy of love and trust in me.My second husband, whose last days were spent telling me how much he loved me, and that he didnt want to leave me.One less than perfect, first husband who, in his desertion of our family, forced me to look inside myself and pull up strengths I never knew I possessed. (I discovered ME and liked it.) One especially dear friend whom I can call at work and ask the spelling of a word because a dictionary is not handy. She laughs and gives me the answer.New friends who value me as I am and tell me I make them feel special.A dear person whom I can go toe to toe with in discussion about politics, religion and life in general and still not break that friendship, even though we may sometimes disagree.Im grateful for the wind and the unexpected music of the wind chimes on my front porch.I appreciate the tears of joy and sadness, as they refresh and cleanse my body of toxinsMy special buddy, God, who is always, silently in the background, waiting for me to cry out in fear or despair or thanksgiving. He, who shows His sense of humor when I least expect it; our friendship is always constant, even if I forget to say Thank You. Your initial gratitude list may be quite different from mine. You may say, I cant think of anything to be grateful for. Thats OK. But the next time you laugh at something, stop and say, Thank you, for the relief of my sorrow. Thank you, to the comedian on TV who makes you laugh: Thank you, for the refreshing breeze on my face; Thank you, for the green lights, when running late for work or for an appointment. Remember To Say Thank you for: The smile of a strangerYour home when you shut the door to intense heat or the burdensome cold of the outside worldThe welcoming comfort of your bed at night or a warm showerThe quiet of the night and if you really listen, you will feel the presence of God in the darkened roomwaiting, just waiting for you to say Thank you for my day, good, bad or not so good.Your cat or dog who will always be loyal to you even if your friends fail youLeftovers or that TV dinner, so you didnt have to cook when you were exhaustedThe smell of roses or a fresh Christmas tree or golden, red and brown Autumn leaves that crunch beneath your feet These daily experiences are all a part of the journey. Dont miss out on them. If you are so focused on the destination, that you neglect to observe the excitement of the journey, you’ll miss the most important part. Hanging on to the resentment of the past is not productive and denies us a better future. Take time to look at your “table of life. “Running towards the future while not enjoying the scenery is a wasted life, a destination without a journey. Creating a Marketing Plan for Your Website

By Bobette Kyle Have you created a marketing plan for your Website? If not, it is time to think about developing one. An Internet marketing plan helps you make the right day-to-day and long term decisions. Without a marketing plan, it is more likely your Website will be a drain on finances rather than a business builder. Creating a marketing plan need not be scary or difficult. It does not require a marketing degree or a lot of experience. You do, however, need to put some quality time into writing your plan. There are different ways to write a marketing plan, one of which is to create a marketing plan outline (or single summary page) through a five step process. 5 Steps to Creating a Marketing Plan Those five steps are: 1. Gather and Analyze Information 2. Verbalize Your Main Challenge(s) 3. Develop Your Website Objective(s) 4. Create Strategies 5. Choose Marketing Programs As you create your marketing plan, fill in the knowledge you gained while developing the five steps. Step 1: Gather and analyze information. You will need information about your company, competitors, customers, and other industry players to reference while creating the plan. This includes all you can find about how the Internet is currently being integrated in your industry with respect to products, promotions, pricing structures, and distribution channels. From this information, you can complete industry and SWOT analyses as well as identify your target customers. Step 2: Verbalize your main challenge(s). Write down the main Internet related challenges you want to overcome as a result of your plan. Referring to these main challenges will help keep you focused while creating your marketing plan. You may even want to write your challenges down in question form – “How do we _____________?”. When your marketing plan is completed, it will answer the question “How do I address these challenges?” Step 3: Develop your Website objective(s). The objective addresses the “big picture”. Your objective answers the question “How will I overcome my main marketing challenge(s)?” in broad, general terms. If your companys main site-related challenge is figuring out how to use your Website to help build client business, for example, an objective for your Website marketing plan could be “To enhance online client service as well as build site awareness and interest with clients.” Step 4: Create strategies for the marketing plan. Strategies support your objective, defining the general approaches you will take to meet your objective. For example, strategies to support the objective outlined in Step 3 could include 1) improve online communication, information, and education, 2) build awareness of and interest in your company on the Internet, and 3) communicate the Websites existence and advantages to existing clients. Step 5: Choose marketing programs (tactics). Marketing programs are where the action takes place – these are the things you will do to bring your strategies to life. Marketing programs to support strategy 2 in the above example (improve online communication, information, and education) could include 1) sharing experience and observations in your industry through participation in discussion boards, 2) offering an email newsletter, and 3) listing/submitting your site to targeted search engines and directories. The Write Up Once you have created a marketing plan summary by working through the five steps, there are numerous ways to create an expanded write up. If you are a company employee, there may be existing format and content you must follow. You can find some write up suggestions in “What to Include in Your Marketing Plan Write Up” at http://www.websitemarketingplan.com/Arts/WritePlan.htm. After the initial plan is created, you should treat it as a work in progress. Tweak and adjust as needed in response to changing conditions. Many companies update marketing and business plans annually when developing budgets for the coming year. Whether you are a one-person shop or part of a good-sized company, having a Website marketing plan can help your business prosper on the Web. About the Author Bobette Kyle draws upon 12+ years of Marketing/Executive experience, Marketing MBA, and online marketing research in her writing. By Glenn Ebersole A strategic thinking question that todays business owners and senior managers need to ask themselves is How effectively do I market myself and our service, product and/or company? And frankly, no matter what your answer is, you can always improve. This is where power marketing strategies can be very effective in helping you and your company achieve better results. It is important to understand that power marketing begins with leadership from within. It means knowing yourself, having a vision, having passion and taking risks. I want to send a clear message that marketing is everything that you do or dont do that says something about you. And what that translates to is that You cannot not market! Therefore, it is imperative that each of us needs to improve our marketing skills. In the past few months I found and read a great book on the subject of power marketing. It is entitled, Secrets of Power Marketing, Promote Brand You, by Peter Urs Bender and George Torok. I found the book to be easy to read and a great reference with many practical ideas. In their book, they present 5 strategies labeled: 1. Perceptions 2. Relationships 3. Media 4. Leverage 5. Database marketing The strategies revolve around promoting an important brand YOU! Welding Basics for Beginners

By Kenzie Thompson Welding has been around for centuries, though not in the forms most commonly used today. One of the first welding processes ever used was known as forge welding. Forge welding attempts to join two metals through a process of heating, and then pounding and striking. It’s what blacksmiths did. But since then, there have been quite a few advancements in the welding world. With these new methods and techniques, welding has left the confines of industrial settings and can now be done practically anywhere – even underwater or in outer space! As you can guess from the history of welding, the ability to join two or more pieces of metal together in a strong bond has been fundamental in our advancements in all areas of life, from housing to transportation; from manufacturing to repairs. Understanding welding basics can come in handy at work, but it will just as often come in handy around the house, in the workshop or on the farm. Because of this, welding is a skill that almost anyone can benefit from, male or female, young or old. Why Weld? If you own any equipment or machinery that is metal, welding will certainly serve as a useful skill. Some typical goals of a welding job include: Fixing stress cracks Reinforcing weak joints, and Cutting/shaping new parts and adapters from raw plating. For chores like these, many welders rely on a process known as arc welding. Arc welding is a method where during the welding process, an electrical current jumps through an air gap (between a positively charged electrode and a negatively charged steel plate) and produces an enormous amount of heat. This heat is produced at the end of a welding rod, and when it does, metal can be melted. Well, it’s a little more complicated than that, but the concept is the same. Perhaps the most common and economical welding method used today is AC (alternating current) arc welding. You can locate a simple AC welder just about anywhere, such as your local farm store or home improvement center. This welding process is ideal for most of your simple, routine welding jobs. Therefore, AC arc welding is ideal for those of you just starting out. Minimize Your Risk While arc welding isn’t incredibly complicated, there are a few risks and hazards that you should be aware of: 1. Exposure to radiation 2. Flying sparks (in the form of globs of molten metal) 3. Electric Shock 4. Fumes 5. Damage to your eyes, and 6. Burns However, by wearing protective clothing and specialized welding helmets and other gear, you can greatly reduce the inherent risks of welding. Here are a few other tips to help keep you safe while arc welding: Make sure to work on a dry floor. Wear thick rubber shoes and dry leather welding gloves. Be sure to use insulated electrode holders. Check to make sure that your equipment is all properly grounded. Keep your work area properly ventilated to avoid inhaling any potentially toxic fumes. Be on the look out for flying bits of melted metal. Most importantly, be aware of any other people who are around you. If they aren’t wearing the proper gear, then keep them away from your project. This will get you started welding safely – one of the most important things when learning a new craft. Kenzie Thompson practices both ornamental and industrial welding on his 5 acre ranch in Northern California. For more information on Welding Basics, visit Welding Advisor. Brokerage Fee

By Milos Pesic You want to open a brokerage account but you can not seem to have a good conviction about the brokerage fee and account minimums. Yet you are certain that you want to start with a brokerage-trade. So what should you do? First of all account minimums are (ought to be) only small ones as low as $500 for example. However, account minimums differ with the type of brokerage account. So make sure you are aware of this and that your budget fits well with the kind of brokerage you are trying to get at. It is true that many do not have any brokerage deposit minimum at all. Now, you might be wondering why some brokerage firms require between $1,000 and $5,000 in starting-up an account. This is because of the many possibilities and reasons behind brokerage fee and account minimum variations. One alternative is to just invest via drips or direct investing plans or dividend reinvestment funds. This allows you to buy small amount of stocks directly from the company which is usually commission-free. The advantage of drips is its dividend-growth. A good deal on interest-rates should also be obtained and put to good use through short-term savings instead of having interim money in stocks. Finding the best brokerage may be a little more complicated than you might expect. As already mentioned, you can get very low commission-fees, but those commissions would not be a big matter if you do not trade very often. So, if you only have a minimum-asset then you should also have a minimum maintenance brokerage fee and avoid it if at all possible. The main idea is to look for a top-rate brokerage focusing on mutual-fund offerings and fees. Among such are FirstTrade, TradingDirect, and Brown/Co. These brokerages do not require any minimum-assets therefore also eliminating any high maintenance brokerage fee. The logic is quite simple; if you have a minimum-asset of $2,000 but failed the required two-trades-per-year then you will be charged 8% of your account-value as maintaining fee. Ask Is it still worth calling an investment? With such fees?. Unless you are an excellent negotiator, why bother. You can freely look for a brokerage with low or no minimum requirements, always, especially when you think your asset-size or trading habits will put you at risk of getting whopped by high account maintenance fees. The main thing is to really look around before you settle with a particular brokerage. Milos Pesic is a successful webmaster and owner of popular and comprehensive Brokerage information site. Ten Ways I Dropped And Kept Off 30 Pounds

By Fitzgerald Trevis Scott No chicken skin. Yes it tastes delicious, like manna from heaven especially fried chicken skin but it’s full of cholesterol and plain old fat. I love it as much as you do but it’s a no-no. Death to birthday cake, red meat and eating out. I often try to answer how it is I went from thin to fat. I ate basically the same way before and after I started gaining weight. What was it that caused the massive increase? To the best of my understanding it was a triumvirate of evil, eating out several times a week, frequent office birthdays and birthday cake and pizza and soda etc. etc. and eating steaks several times a week. Each of this brotherhood of evil played their role in adding inches all over my body. Before you eat, drink. Apparently we can get hunger and thirst mixed up. Make sure you aren’t eating when you should be drinking, just take a sip and see how you feel. Also with respect to number 7 below, even if you really are hungry give yourself a buffer against overeating by having something to drink before you start. Feel free to wear a hole in the carpet thinking. I used to think it was weird, my infrequent desire to walk around the house in circles thinking about something that had charged me up but it works. Here I am all excited about some new idea and I walk around and around running through different possibilities in my head. Sometimes I come up with a solution that’s exciting enough for me to walk some more but at the end of the day it’s good exercise regardless. Pump the music up. Keeping your radio on an up tempo music station can help you burn calories right in your seat. Play a little air guitar, bob your head and keep your spirits up. Each burst of activity adds up throughout the day. Find that outdoor thing that just gets you excited. For me it was riding a bike, I l-o-v-e-d it, the most fun ever. The wind was whipping past my face and I could try little wheelies and moves. Always be safety conscious though, I went out and bought my pads and a helmet for around $12 US I believe. Toss your platter and use a tiny bowl or saucer even. Do you realize that apparently it takes 20 minutes for your fat cells to tell your brain that you’re full? A whole twenty minutes after they’re good that’s when your brain gets the message. By that time many of us could have eaten two more meals already. My point here is this, if you delay the amount of time you take to eat until you are full, by having to go back for seconds and thirds your brain is more likely to get the message before you’ve eaten too much. Also, regardless of how full they are, people are more likely than not to eat everything in front of them, so if you take out a lot of food, you’re probably going to eat all of it, even when you aren’t hungry anymore. Weigh yourself, How else are you supposed to know if you should keep doing what you’re doing or try harder or try something else altogether. Like managing anything, if you don’t get feedback what’s the point of trying. Try driving your car blindfolded and see how far you get safely. Exactly, so pay attention to what direction your weight is going in otherwise you might be going the wrong way or nowhere at all. Don’t take the shortcut, Ban yourself from the elevator, don’t park close to the building entrance or if you are like me don’t ride the golf carts around campus. They were really very fun to drive and so convenient but they completely undermined my goals, It isn’t just the calories that you burn by walking it’s the muscles you build that keep burning calories even when you aren’t doing anything. Muscles earn weight loss “interest” for you on your initial investment in getting them. How cool is that? Think about it, At least one study indicated that just by regularly thinking about activities such as running, jumping and cycling you can build up muscle strength. It is also sure to motivate you to actually start and continue your exercise goals. I used each of these methods to differing degrees to lose 30 lbs. Don’t Forget Yourself When Caring for Someone with a Mood Disorder

By Mary Logan When you care about someone suffering from a mood disorder, taking care of yourself can be a challenge. Mood disorders run the gamut from chronic and clinical depression to panic disorders and bi-polar disorder. In addition to the stress of caregiving, family members have the added burden of trying to avoid the “isolation factor” that is part and parcel of mental illness. It’s easy to see how this happens. Caregivers often believe nobody knows how they feel, or that things will never be ok. When you do have a morsel of time, you may be too down, feeling unsocial, or even tired to do the things you enjoy. Sometimes your only option is socializing with the person affected by mental illness, which may not feel like much of a restful break. Since mental illnesses can be both chronic and cyclical, it is important to be kind to yourself, as the caring family member. You need to take care of yourself whenever you can and even when you think you can’t. “Self Care” is a phrase widely used by personal coaches and refers to making your “self” a priority. This can be challenging for caregivers who frequently forget themselves as they care for the ill person. Caregivers especially, are prone to thinking of themselves as an afterthought, if at all. Neglecting yourself over time can result in adverse consequences for the caregiver, including burnout, shame, increased stress, and anger, in addition to isolation. Being proactive to stay well is important to avoiding these consequences even if the ways you express self care are minimal, they add up to keep you healthy. Here are some ideas for taking time for your “self,” to help you to keep on giving. 1. Relax your mind. For some people it might be listening to music, or meditation tapes, or even a book on tape (since reading may take more energy). You may want to purchase an MP3 player that allows you to manage the tapes easier than a traditional CD player. One of my favorite artists is Steve Halpern, who puts together some wonderfully relaxing music that I play from my computer or pop into the MP3 or CD player. 2. Relax your body. Massage, Reiki, facials, hot stone treatments — the list is endless. Try something new or go with an old stand-by. While it may feel like an overwhelming task, the simple act of making and keeping the appointment that’s just about you will be well worth the effort. If you just can’t get away, simple breathing meditations can bring deep relaxation. 3. Seek out your (funniest) friends. Staying connected with your friends is an essential form of self care. Friends know and accept our story, and help keep us going. Even if it is an effort, stay in touch and make plans to get together. It’s no secret how therapeutic laughing can be — so pick your funniest friends!! Or take in a funny movie together even if you don’t feel like laughing. It can be wonderfully contagious. 4. Take a break. “Respite” from your caregiving commitment can be invaluable. If money is not an extreme issue, try to get away even if only for a complete day and overnight retreat. Detoxification Diet – What is the Benefit of Doing One?

By Kerris Samson One of the more common cleansing diets available is a detox (detoxification) diet. This type of diet releases the toxins that have stored up in the fat cells of the body and allows the body to remove them and cleanse them out of the bodys systems. But why do people use a cleansing or detox diet. It is really simple really, they use a cleansing/detox diet to eliminate the toxins and other contaminants from their bodies and they do this to for the following reasons:- 1. It helps to improve their health. 2. It makes them feel more energetic. 3. It helps to improve their immunity system. 4. Many people have found that it improves their mental processes. 5. It aides their bodys digestive system. 6. Has helped with weight loss. There are many ways in which you can carry out a cleansing diet and below are a few you could try. Firstly there is the complete fast. This would mean that you do not eat or drink at all; in fact all you do is drink just water. Or if you want you could just drink water and juice There are various ways to do this. Then there are other diets where you only eat certain foods, but it will have to consist of fresh fruit and vegetables and then there are some that will consist of you just drinking liquids. There seems to be a number of variations on these sorts of detox diets around. Another way of carrying out a detox diet is to use herbs. In fact herbal cleansing has been around since ancient times and there are certain herbs that can be used to help release and excrete the toxins from our bodies. There are other detox diets that you can use which are known as reduction calorie diets as they specifically designed for reducing calories and so aid weight loss. But the most common sort of detox diets that are available is those that are composed mainly of fruit and vegetables, and preferably they should be eaten raw and unmodified or processed. It is also recommended that you drink more water and you should abstain from drinking alcohol. But you must be careful as a detox diet can cause some side effects. For example if you use a diet where the toxins are rapidly released into the bloodstream, this could result that your body is more likely to have problems getting rid of them and this is known as the Herxheimer reaction. Some of the symptoms you will feel if this occurs are headaches, pains in your muscles, weakness, difficulty sleeping (insomnia) and irritability. This name is given to the bodys condition when detoxification occurs quickly and your body does not have enough time to actually release the toxins and you will find that some detox diets will produce this effect. Very often a lot of people will stop such detox diets as they think it is making them worse rather than better, when in fact if they continue with the diet the symptoms they are feeling will soon reduce and they will start to feel healthier. There are a number of ways that people have used which seem to help lessen the symptoms of this reaction and they are:- 1. They drink as much pure water as they can as this helps to flush out the toxins. 2. They start taking more exercise as this will help to improve the circulation of the body and to help it work more efficiently. Because the body is able to work for efficiently it is able to remove the toxins faster. 3. Ensure that they get as much natural sunlight as they can. 4. Look at taking a detox bath. 5. Look at using saunas, baths and various herbs to increase sweating. 6. Always where possible avoid refined processed foods and toxic environmental chemicals. 7. Use aromatherapy oils that are used by many to help with the relief of aches and pains which can be brought on by rapid detoxification. As previously mentionedon reduce and they will start experience a when in fact that detox diets have been used since ancient times and they can regularly help to improve your health and make you feel better. Although some people will do a detox diet on a regular basis there are others will only use them seldomly. However, if you should wish to use a detox diet, you should always exercise with care and if you need to consult your doctor before starting one as occasionally the side effects can be severe. You should especially consult your doctor if you suffer from any metabolic disease such as diabetes. Kerris Samson has set up this site on all matters relating to detox diets, including the types that can be used and information on when they should be used and why they should be used. My Top 6 Favorite Knitting Gadgets

By Alice Seidel One of the best things about having a hobby is buying everything you need and even some things that you don’t! If you are into cars or motorcycles, chances are you spend a lot of extra money on accessories, don’t you? Cooking, exercising, camping, gardening, hiking, – you name it, there are accessories for every amusement under the sun! Knitting is no different. Gadgets abound, and you can get lost in a sea of extras. They all look good, but what is necessary, and what can you leave for another time? Let me tell you about some of the knitting gadgets that are available to knitters, and then I will tell you my top *6* favorite knitting gadgets. Needles and yarn aside, if you look around there are numerous knitting gadgets. There are stitch markers, used for marking a particular place in your knitting where decreases or increases take place; row counters which keep track of each row as you are knitting; point protectors which are placed on the needle points to protect your work as well as yourself; bobbins, pom-pom makers, stitch gauges, graph paper, yarn swifts and ball winders, which can be useful for certain advanced knitting projects, but will probably spend more time collecting dust for most knitters. So that is why now we come to my top *6* favorite knitting gadgets, and why I like them so: #1 Tape measure – for knitting, as for sewing, your tape measure will prove to be indispensable. Whatever the project, you always have need to know the length and width of your knitting. Make sure if your tape measure wears out or becomes distorted in any way, that you replace it. This item helps to make you look good! #2 Scissors – I like the small variety, especially the ones that fold up. They are handy to take anywhere (well, almost anywhere), and you can expect to use them frequently. But, if you have larger scissors, they work, too. I would not recommend pinking shears, though; they are for sewing projects only. #3 Cable needles – as you become more adept at knitting, one of the easiest new stitches to add on is the cable stitch. Cable stitches can be knitted in many variations, but they always need the cable needle in order to utilize the stitch. Cable needles come in various sizes, and are always pointed at both ends. Some have a “bend” in them, and some are “U” shaped, while most are simply straight. They are also shorter than a traditional, straight, knitting needle. So if a pattern calls for cable stitches, better have some cable needles around! #4 Stitch holders – these look like giant safety pins. They are especially handy when knitting sweaters and you need to place the neck stitches someplace until you need them again, so on to the stitch holder they go! Stitch holders can be very small (2″ or so) up to about 10″ in length. There are many varieties, but stay with the simple versions, for best results. #5 Yarn needle – aka a tapestry needle. These needles are longer than regular sewing needles, and have blunter points and larger eyes. They are used to join your patterns together when finished. For any knitter, they are a must-have. #6 Pins – last but not least, pins! Anyone who sews or knits, needs pins; straight pins, safety pins, T- pins. When you buy straight pins, make sure they have colored tops; these are easiest to see in your knitting. T- pins are great for blocking your patterns, and also good for pinning heavier knits together. Safety pins always make a great substitute for stitch holders, or to mark a spot in your knitting that you need to refer to later on. So, there you have it! Six gadgets I can’t live without when I knit. If you are very serious about knitting, and like to see your project look its best when finished, then these *6* wonderful knitting gadgets should always be close by. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = == = = == = = = = Why does some people’s knitting always look better?
